Introducing our 2025 Summer Interns

digiLab

29 Jul 2025

Meet digiLab’s latest cohort of intern recruits

We are delighted to introduce the students who have joined the digiTeam this summer for a 8-weeks internship programme.

Sam Di-Folco | AI and Nuclear Fusion Intern

Currently in his fourth year of studying MSci Physics at Royal Holloway, University of London, Samuel brings a compelling mix of academic research and industry experience to digiLab. His background includes research and industry internships involving phonon dispersion in thermoelectric materials, gravitational wave studies, and exploring generative AI for stakeholder analysis.

His passion for applying AI and computer science to tackle complex physics challenges is what drew him to digiLab. During his internship, Samuel will be working on a Physics-Informed Machine Learning project, bringing together his two core interests. Outside of work and studies, he can be found teaching salsa, performing as a concert pianist, or practicing his Spanish and Italian.

Sukrit Sumant | AI and Nuclear Fusion Intern

Sukrit is a fourth-year Physics student at the University of Oxford with a keen interest in the intersection of machine learning and physics. His experience spans research on anomaly detection in radio astronomy using unsupervised learning at Oxford's Department of Astrophysics, and a software development internship at EY, where he focused on algorithm optimisation and implemented Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) techniques for LLMs.

What drew Sukrit to digiLab was our emphasis on Uncertainty Quantification - an area he hasn’t explored before. During his internship, he will be working on two projects: using computer vision to infer plasma parameters from Tokamak videos, and developing generalised anomaly detection pipelines across diverse data types. Besides work and studies, Sukrit enjoys competitive debating, badminton, long-distance running, and spending time with his pets.

At digiLab, we are passionate about nurturing the next generation of AI and Machine Learning professionals by equipping young talent with the skills, experience, and development opportunities they need to thrive in the industry.
